Reason #1
Some of the reflexes did not properly emerge and integrate. Therefore some can show up as I start to integrate the others.
When I first started Primitive Reflex Integration(PRI) with my adorable little monsters, they tested negative for some. Yep, being a newbie at it, I tested them on all of them, made a list of the ones they tested positive for and made a list of which ones each child needed. Then started doing the list with each child.
A couple of months later, we were playing out on the grass and I noticed Lyla trying to do a somersault. Each time her head went down, her knees would buckle, a sign of a STNR(Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex). She couldn’t control it. It was automatic. What the heck!? She had definitely tested negative for it in the beginning. Well, I got right to studying it further and found that the STNR develops as the Moro is integrated. Lyla is my ADHD and she was definitely positive for the Moro in the beginning. We had been integrating Lyla’s Moro for a couple of months and voila, her STNR was now more prominent. Light bulb! So, we started doing them in the order they emerge, doing each one for a little while before we started the next one. Bam! Nailed it! That worked great. Now Lyla started showing a lot of improvement faster.
Reason #2
You can get a false negative on a Reflex test. Sometimes a reflex will show up so slightly that it is easy to miss.
Our scarlet didn’t test positive for the Moro, but she had symptoms that were in line with a retained Moro Reflex, particularly an overactive ‘fight or flight’ response. I had her do the Starfish exercise and she has definitely chilled out some.
So….In a ‘nut shell’
Our new way of doing it: We test for all 8 of the main PRs. If any are present, we have them do all of the exercises. We start with the Moro and TLR and add the others in as we go. Download our checklist that shows common symptoms for each reflex.
